State parks in the Sandhills region are home to over 30 species of amphibians! Celebrate Leap Year with art, guided hikes, lectures and more.

Disappearing Frogs Project creates interactive art installations to raise awareness of the trending decline of amphibian populations. We invite all professional and emerging artists who care about art, parks and conservation to share. Performance art welcomed.

Artwork will be displayed February 12-29, 2016, at Weymouth Woods Nature Preserve and March 25-April 9, 2016 at Raven Rock State Park.

Submission Specifications

Sizes: 4”x4”, 8”x8”, and 4”x8” for paintings, sculptures, drawings, photography and written word. For hangability, adhere art to sturdy surface the size of the image. No border needed.

Labeling: On the back of the art include artists’ name, studio or school affiliation (optional), address, telephone number, email and a brief description of entry. For youth category (16 & under), please include age.

Submission Dates

Artwork and Submission Form can be delivered in person at either Weymouth Woods Nature Preserve or Raven Rock State Park by Monday, February 8, 2016, or via mail to Weymouth Woods Sandhills Nature Preserve, 1024 Fort Bragg Rd, Southern Pines, NC 28387.

Submissions are donated and become part of the Disappearing Frogs Project traveling exhibit and may be sold at the February (Weymouth Woods) or April (Raven Rock) exhibitions with 100% of sales supporting the Amphibian Survival Alliance, amphibians.org. The ASA is a Fiscally Sponsored Program of Global Wildlife Conservation, a registered 501 (c)(3).
